HURRICANE PLAN — Scallop Bay Marina

In New England, the hurricane season can last from early summer until early winter, and we ask that you familiarize yourself with Scallop Bay Marina’s action plan. Preparation is key to ensuring a safe season for your boat.

It is the responsibility of each boater to take steps to ensure that your boat is safe and secure when severe weather approaches. We ask that our boaters create an action plan and be ready to act on it when a storm approaches. Although storms can be unpredictable we like to be cautious with your boat and urge our boaters to do the same.

Many insurance providers have hurricane haul insurance that will pay for the haul and relaunch of your boat. Please familiarize yourself with your policy and see what is and is not covered.

Typically we have a three day window to see if a storm will be a legitimate threat and act upon it. We will do our best to monitor the weather and alert our boaters via email list in advance but it is the responsibility of the boat owner to be aware during the hurricane season of approaching systems.
